The Barkston, 2 Barkston Gardens, Kensington and Chelsea, London SW5 0EN, United Kingdom
We would rather tell you plainly what this building can and cannot do than have you arrive and find out.
Please read this first
This building is not suitable for wheelchair users. There are steps up from the street to the main entrance, no bedroom can be reached without using stairs, no bathroom is adapted, and no bedroom doorway is wide enough for a wheelchair. We are sorry — it is a Victorian mansion block and these are limits of the building, not choices we have made.
If you use a wheelchair, or cannot manage steps or stairs, please do not book without speaking to us first on +44 20 8088 2771 or at booking@thebarkston.com. We would far rather help you find somewhere that works than take a booking you cannot use.
What the building does have
- A lift serves all floors, so once you are inside you do not need the stairs between floors. Getting in from the street, and into a bedroom, still involves steps.
- Reception is staffed around the clock, so there is always someone to ask for help, whatever time you arrive.
- Assistance dogs are always welcome, including in the bedrooms. Our no-pets rule does not apply to them.
- Luggage storage is available, so you do not have to carry bags up before check-in or after check-out.
- Check-in from 15:00 to 00:00. Tell us your arrival time and we will have someone ready to meet you.
If you are deaf or hard of hearing
The building has a conventional audible fire alarm. There are no visual alarms in the bedrooms and no hearing loop at reception. Please tell us before you arrive if you would not hear an alarm, so we can agree with you how you will be alerted — reception is staffed twenty-four hours and this is straightforward to arrange, but only if we know.
Getting here
There is no parking at the hotel. Earls Court station is 400 m away and Gloucester Road 550 m; neither is step-free throughout. A taxi can set down directly outside the door on Barkston Gardens.
This website
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA on the booking site: it works with a keyboard alone, the text can be enlarged in your browser without breaking the layout, form fields are labelled, and colour is never the only way information is given.
If you hit a barrier on this site — or would simply rather book by phone or email — contact us on +44 20 8088 2771 or at booking@thebarkston.com and we will take the booking for you.

Tell us if we have got something wrong, or if there is something we should add. We would rather know.
